The Forest Technician will perform technical duties in support of the development, protection, or improvement of forest lands by implementing technical management practices pursuant to guidelines developed by Foresters. The candidate will work with Foresters on implementing the Timber Sale program on State Forests primarily in Lewis and Jefferson Counties. Responsibilities will include the following:
- Conduct forest inventories and record forest condition data for unit management planning, timber harvests and regeneration information. - Mark State-owned timber for sale and for stand improvement in accordance with marking guide. - Assist with recreational trail maintenance and inventory of assets. In addition to primary responsibilities, may assist other programs as needed and participate in public outreach events.
Job Function

Salary Range:
From $18.22 to $18.22 Hourly
Minimum Qualification
Thirty (30) semester credit hours, including twelve (12) semester credit hours in forestry, which must include at least one course in three or more of the following areas:
botany, dendrology, forest biology, forest ecology, forest ecosystem management, forest entomology, forest health, forest mensuration, forest pathology, forest protection, forest soils, general soils, geographic information systems, land surveying and silviculture OR One (1) year of technical forestry experience in one (1) or more of the following areas:
forest management, including sale and removal of timber products; nursery management, including the transplanting of tree or shrub seedlings; forest pest management, including control of diseases and insect pests.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
