Deliver a variety of recreation activities for individuals and/or groups, and adapt activities to adjust to the function level, physical ability, and/or rehabilitative and clinical needs of participants. o Ensure that delivered recreation activities are in compliance with recreation department policies and procedures. o The Recreation Assistant would participate, escort, coach, teach/train, and encourage staff and individuals to engage in various activities that would support the individual's choices, needs and social well-being. o Organizes and maintains rooms, equipment, decorations, supplies, entertainment, and other requirements to conduct activities. o Observe and record individuals' participation, reactions, behavioral patterns, and progress over the course of recreational programming, and report changes to upper-level staff. o Assist higher level recreation staff in the evaluation of recreation activities and recommend new activities to address the recreational needs of individuals and/or groups. o Recreation Worker:
Independently performs the tasks and activities of a Recreation Assistant; and may train and perform the full range of supervisory duties over Recreation Assistant o This position will cover multiple sites and will require travel between sites.

Salary Range:
From $41634 to $62806 Annually

Recreation Assistant:
Promotion:
One year of service as a Direct Support Assistant, Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, or Teaching Assistant. Recreation Worker:
Permanent competitive service as a Recreation Worker OR 70.1 Promotion/Transfer
Qualifications:
Two years of service as a Recreation Assistant. Simultaneous to this posting, the appropriate civil service list will be canvassed. Management reserves the right to consider either a transfer or list candidate. Important note:
the candidate selected to this position is advised that it will be their responsibility to discuss any previously approved time off with their new supervisor. There is no guarantee the new unit will be able to honor previously approved time.Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
